um... i really never thought about it.

what was your initial response to pippin's character?
i like pippin in both the books and the movies.

what in his character do you like?
he's just so funny.

what do you dislike?
i don't think i have anything to dislike about him really.

what do you consider pippin's strongest suit?
he's pippin, from what i've read he's just your normal hobbit on an adventure.

what are his weaknesses?
his stomach.

to what degree did pippin's tookish nature play into his leaving the shire? was pippin searching for something when he left, or was it purely to help frodo?
his tookish nature played a large part of him leaving the shire, tooks always like a good adventure. he left to help frodo, methinks.

what purpose did pippin have with the fellowship?
pippin brought in the funny parts of the book, the lightheartedness.

what would have happened if he had been left behind? how would he be different? how would the others be different?
if he were left behind he would have been different, he would probably have much less knowledge then he did when he joined the fellowship.

how does the grand adventure change pippin?
i don't know yet, i haven't read all of the books.

was pippin unsure of himself at the beginning of the tale?
i think he wasn't because he pretty much wanted to do what was best for his friends.

does pippin have a hero? who and why?
does he really have a hero?? i must finish reading the books to figure it out.

describe how you see pippin's relationship with merry.
pippin and merry, somehow i think that they're more than just friends but that's just me.

do you think merry was ever disappointed in his cousin (ie during the palantír incident)?
i haven't gotten to the palantír incident so i wouldn't know.

what do you think gandalf felt towards the young took? what was their relationship?
gandalf was the disgruntled old man who didn't want him to come, so i guess he didn't have such a good relationship until they met in fangorn.

do you think gandalf was particularly hard on pippin? why?
yes i do, from what i've read, he didn't want pippin to come on the journey... or was that elrond?

when the fellowship first meets galadriel it is said, "each had felt he was offered a choice between a shadow of fear that lay ahead, and something he greatly desired: clear before his mind it lay, and to get it he had only to turn aside from the road and leave the quest and the war against sauron and the others." what do you think pippin was offered?
pippin was probably offered a nice home with a nice family and all the food he could eat.

what do you think boromir represented to pippin?
i actually think boromir was kinda pippin's hero because he attempted to save merry and pippin from the evils that befall them before he dies.

how did the death of boromir affect pippin?
pippin was probably sad because boromir was like a hero to him.

why do you think faramir so moved pippin?
faramir and pippin meet? i know that little snippet from the movie but they really meet?

what do you think motivated pippin to swear fidelity to gondor?

was it appropriate pippin ended up serving denethor, not théoden? why?
i like théoden better, but i couldn't answer the question.

when pippin was confronted with death during the battle before the black gates, how do you feel he reacted?
he was confronted with death!?!?!?! noooooo!

why do you think pippin later named his son after faramir, not boromir?
because faramir is cooler, even though i haven't met him.

pippin would be a good father methinks.

yes i did, because he brought the fun it and also because i like that whole palantír thingy.

did you think pippin's character was slighted in the two towers film?
um... i have no idea to tell you the truth.

how did you feel about pippin's enlarged role in rotk?
i loved it, we didn't get too much of the whole pippin thing in ttt.

the whole you bow to no one scene, i almost cried.

i have no rightful idea.

was the pippin of the films accurate to the pippin you imagined?
i saw the movies first, so i saw the movie pippin as the way book pippin looked.

how did you feel about pippin not having his troll felling moment? did he prove himself otherwise?
troll felling? i don't remember that part.

i don't know, i think he liked them all equally.

i loved the whole portrayal in rotk.

how do you feel about most of the songs (ex: "the bath song") not making it into the whole of the theatrical release and only part of the extended edition?
i would like to have had the bath song in there, but then would it have been pg-13 if we saw hobbits in a bath?

hey, remi! you crack me up, you answered every single question even when you had no idea what the answer should be. onward stalwart heart!
pippin, a normal hobbit on an adventure? ha, but isn't that just it? a normal hobbit doesn't go on adventures! and i should think pippin's stomach is anything but weak, i think that little guy could sallow a bolt and be no worse for the wear.
merry and pippin are more than friends in my opinion too, they're cousins! har har. that's what you meant, right? right? hobbit cousins r 4evah. ho ho.
pippin does meet faramir in the books! it's even cooler in text, keep reading. oh!the troll felling... heavens you have so much to find out! that's pippin's huge shining moment of the novels. what diamond? oh dear, dear! read the appendices when you're through with the story as well, then come back and fill in those answer. in the meantime, have fun reading!
