a little on the slim side for a hobbit and a little more dressy than those in the shire, very playful looking.

what was your initial response to pippin's character?
what an adorable hobbit!

what in his character do you like?
his youthfulness, his humor.

his loyalty.

to what degree did pippin's tookish nature play into his leaving the shire? was pippin searching for something when he left, or was it purely to help frodo?
think he was looking for an adventure when he left with frodo, otherwise he would be left to inherit thainship and that's it.

what purpose did pippin have with the fellowship?
he looked into the palantí and saved faramir's life.

what would have happened if he had been left behind? how would he be different? how would the others be different?
gandalf may not have been at gondor in time, the fellowship may not have been broken, but the stewardship of gondor would have ended.

how does the grand adventure change pippin?
he grew up, came in to his own and made him less of a "fool."

was pippin unsure of himself at the beginning of the tale?
yes, he wondered if elrond was right to try to stop him.

does pippin have a hero? who and why?
i think treebeard, both he and merry admired his strength and wisdom.

a friendship bordering on brotherhood and nothing more.

no, i think if it wasn't pip, it would have been merry.

like a man baby-sitting a young charge, i think gandalf enjoyed it, though sometimes annoyed.

no, he was stressed.

a chance to own his own inn and have a lifetime supply of ale and pipeweed.

an older brother.

how did the death of boromir affect pippin?
it hurt him and made him feel in debt to gondor.

why do you think faramir so moved pippin?
he was all that was his brother and more.

yes, boromir was his son.

very well, a lot like i had imagined him.

it wasn't stupid, he was young therefore immature, not stupid.

did you enjoy the performance of billy boyd as pippin? how so?
yes! the quirks that brought pippin to life were amazing.

did you think pippin's character was slighted in the two towers film?
no.

how did you feel about pippin's enlarged role in rotk?
i enjoyed it because he is my fave character.

when pippin sings for denethor.

which scene from the books which didn't make it into the film do you miss most?
the scene of tom bombadil.

was the pippin of the films accurate to the pippin you imagined?
yes.

how did you feel about pippin not having his troll felling moment? did he prove himself otherwise?
yes, he proved himself when he slew the orc about to kill gandalf.

i'm mad! they were so choice!

how would you imagine pippin felt about the marriage of his son faramir to sam's daughter goldilocks?
i think he was overjoyed that his son married one of the fellowship's daughters.

do you consider pippin a hero?
yes! if it were not for him, many of the victories would not have happened.

yes, gandalf was stressed. that's putting it lightly! gandalf during the war of the ring is like me during finals.
