version "splat"
i loved this first layout, though i guess people had intense issues trying to figure out where the navigation was (the black dots). this was my first foryer back into the webdesign world after being absent from it for roughly a year.
when starting the layout process, i remember i wanted the tiniest text box ever, which of course, was a goal to be achieved the next layout. i really liked this splash page though, it was an animated gif of pippin making his naughty face in moria. most entertaining.

version "the cord was cut"
this layout was created in honor of ttt's premiere. i really, really like this layout. i love its colours and theme. in creatng this layout, i took a quote from the tt novel and worked from there. i wanted the feel to be hopelessness (because i am upbeat in the winter) thus matching pippin's mindset at the beginning of the tt story. i also wanted to break the "square" format, which web pages easily fall prey to, i wanted the shape of the design to be organic rather than geometric. also, i wanted to simplify the navigation since v.1 had so many visitor problems. as noted above, i should also mention, i finally succeeded in having the tiniest text box ever, which was the worst part of this layout. i don't know what i was thinking. it was aesthetically pleasing, but disturbing in every other faction.
still, i loved this layout. it was a wrench to let it go.
